Women In Olive Oil ("WIOO," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit womeninoliveoil.org (the "Site"), join our membership community, register for events, donate, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us.

1. Information We Collect

Membership registration. When you enroll in our membership program, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, country or location, organization, profession, and profile details. We use it to confirm you meet program requirements, manage your membership and annual renewal, and let you network with other members. Your name, location, website url, and social handles (should you choose to share them) are shared with other members .

Payments and donations. Membership fees, event tickets, and donations are processed by Stripe and PayPal. Payment card details are entered with and handled by these providers, and we receive only limited information about your transaction, such as confirmation of payment. Events and tickets. When you register for an event or reserve tickets, we collect the details needed to manage your registration.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your name and email address.

Contact forms and email. When you contact us, we collect the information you send.

Comments. When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. Gravatar's privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Information collected automatically. We collect your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring pages, and similar usage data through cookies and similar technologies.

2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for these purposes:

• Strictly necessary: to operate and secure the Site, keep you signed in, process payments, protect login pages from repeated attempts, and prevent spam and bot abuse on forms.
• Functional: to remember your preferences, such as your details if you choose to save them when commenting.
• Analytics and site testing: to understand how visitors use the Site and to test different versions of pages. [Delete if no split test or analytics is active.]
• Advertising: [Keep only if advertising cookies are used, and name the vendors.]

Comments cookies. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These last one year.

Login cookies. If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last one year. If you select "Remember Me," your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

Editing cookies. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved that contains no personal data and only indicates the post ID you just edited. It expires after one day.

We use CookieYes to manage your consent choices. When you first visit, you can accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link, and you can also block cookies in your browser settings. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law.

Our forms and login pages use hCaptcha, a service of Intuition Machines, Inc., to protect against spam and automated abuse. hCaptcha may collect information such as your IP address and device and browser details to distinguish humans from bots. Its use is governed by hCaptcha's Privacy Policy.

3. Media

If you upload images to the Site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images from the Site and extract any location data they contain.

4. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Pages on this Site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

6. How We Share Information

We share personal information with service providers that help us run the Site and our programs, including our email marketing platform (Mailchimp), payment processors (Stripe and PayPal), web hosting, spam detection, and security providers. They may use it only to provide services to us. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. We may also disclose information to comply with law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, restructuring, or transfer of our organization's assets.

Your contact information is visible to other members as described in Section 1.

We do not sell personal information for money.

7. International Transfers

We are based in the United States and our members and visitors are located around the world, so your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

8. How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. For registered users, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile for the duration of the membership. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except their username, and site administrators can also see and edit it. Data can be exported or removed on request through the WordPress data exporter and eraser. Data synced to a third-party service such as Mailchimp is retained there until you unsubscribe or it is deleted. We may keep information we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

9. Your Privacy Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it, except for data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request access, correction, or deletion; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

EU and UK residents. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Our legal bases for processing include consent, performance of our membership relationship with you, our legitimate interests in running and promoting our network, and legal obligations.

Other regions. Residents of other countries and U.S. states may have similar rights under local law, and we will honor valid requests as required.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Third-Party Websites and Social Media

The Site links to third-party sites and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.

12. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and revise the "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
